Users have the option to appear offine on Facebook even when they are active on the web. Change status on Facebook from online to offline with one easy step. How to appear offline on facebook?

• Log into Facebook
• Click on "Chat"
• Click on "Options" and then click on "Go offline" to appear offline

To go online again: 

Simply click on "Chat (Offline)", then your friend list will appear.
