Android - How to block ads on your smartphone or tablet?

Most of the free apps available on the Play Store are sponsored by advertisements. Although these allow developers get some money out of their apps, they are sometimes unfair and detrimental to the user. If you are searching for an app to block these ads, you won't find any of them on the Play Store, as Google chose to ban them. 

Get AdBlock Plus for your Android device

To install applications such as AdBlock Plus, you first need to allow the installation of apps from unknown sources:

• Apps > Settings > More.
• Go to Security and check "Unknown Sources".
• You can download the AdBlock Plus app from the official website: https://adblockplus.org/en/android-install.

Turn-off the Internet access

• A simple solution to eliminate advertisements: turn off the internet access/Wi-Fi. Ads are distributed by servers, by turning off your Wi-Fi or 3G connection, you will also disable the display of ads.
• This solution only works for applications and games that do not require internet to work.

Notifications

In addition to advertising, unwanted notifications may appear on your smartphone.
